Biography
A professor of electrical engineering at The University of Michigan, Heath Hofmann’s expertise lies in the areas of power electronics and electromechanical systems. Specific research interests include energy harvesting, flywheel energy storage systems, finite element analysis, and the design and control of electric machines. Dr. Hofmann regularly teaches courses in power electronics and energy conversion, and has developed graduate and senior level courses in electromechanics and electric machinery and drives. His research has been sponsored by the Office of Naval Research, the Department of Energy, NASA, and the National Science Foundation, among others. He serves as associate editor to IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion and the International Journal of Numerical Modelling: Electronic Networks, Devices and Fields.
