Biography
Benjamin uses large datasets to develop highly granular estimates of building energy use and carbon emissions at scales ranging from the individual household to the state. He uncovers relationships between energy use, emissions, demographics, urban morphology, land use, and infrastructure to explore issues of energy and climate justice. An engineer by training, he combines quantitative methods with critical social science to holistically assess issues at the intersection of energy and the environment. His work on carbon footprints of households has been covered by Scientific American, CNN, and the Associated Press amongst others.
