Biography

Professor Perakis conducts research in the probabilistic modeling and optimization of marine systems, transportation optimization, reliability and safety analysis of systems and structures, and economic impact of proposed environmental regulations. He is a highly published expert in the field of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and has directed various sponsored research projects at the University of Michigan, had several visiting professorships in universities in Germany, China, Greece and other nations, and supervised 22 Tauber Institute projects to date, with major corporate partners worldwide such as Boeing, Lockheed-Martin and Pfizer.
