Biography

Irving Salmeen is a lecturer at the Ford School. He was previously associate director of the Science, Technology, and Public Policy Program (2012—2014) and a research scientist with the University of Michigan’s Center for the Study of Complex Systems (2008—2012). He retired (2007) after 36 years in the Ford Motor Company Scientific Research Laboratories. At retirement he headed the lab’s Systems Analytics Department, working on mathematical models for business, manufacturing, and vehicle problems. He holds a PhD in biophysics and BS degrees in engineering physics and mathematics from the University of Michigan.
